Weekday Round-Up

This past week was short but busy!

Our 3D shape focus was on the pyramid.

We continued to explore addition and different patterns.

We will do some work with subtraction this week!

We have been exploring word families such as the it, am, an and up families. The boys and girls love making word family webs during morning message!

Many friends have also been interested in our cutting sensory bin and sand bin. Also, some of us have been exploring magnetism with our large magnets!

We have been sharing our learning about Lent through drawings and words.

We also had Rosary Apostolate on Thursday morning. We learned about the Holy Spirit.

Weekday RoundUp

We had a short yet super packed week!

Tuesday was Valentine’s Day celebrations and Pancake (Shrove) Tuesday. I will post Pancake pictures on Tuesday as they are on the iPad which is at school.

Wednesday was Ash Wednesday which marks the first day of Lent. We have learned that Lent is 40 days long. The 40 days before Easter. During Lent we learned that people give, fast and pray. As a class we are going to give more kindness during Lent. We each came up with an act of kindness, wrote it down and placed it in our Lent basket. Each day we will draw a card and try to do what the card says that day.

I am so excited for some warmer temperatures this week! However, as we know... this will mean a muddy messy outside. I still recommend snow pants or at least splash pants. We spend a lot of our day exploring outdoors!

The letter this week is Ff.

We are going to talk about family this week. If you’d like, send me a picture through the remind app of how your family spent Family Day. I will share the pictures on the smart board. This will give your child a chance to show and share with the class. Even if it’s just a picture of breakfast together or cuddling up with a book... it doesn’t need to be elaborate.

Enjoy Family Day!

Weekday Round-Up

I hope everyone is staying warm and dry! Here is our own little snow bunny... he can’t get enough of the snow!

Last week we explored numbers, letters and sight words through various Valentine’s Day themed activities.

Themes always make learning more fun!

We have been learning about 3D shapes. We spent a lot of time exploring the cone last week. This upcoming week we will focus on the cylinder!

We also explored symmetry. Hearts are the perfect teaching tool to learn about this math concept!

We talked a little bit about Shrove (Pancake) Tuesday and Ash Wednesday (first day of Lent).

We have a busy week ahead with Valentines Day (remember we will celebrate on the 13th), Pancake Tuesday and Ash Wednesday.

Also, Friday is a PA day and next Monday is Family Day.

Weekday Round-Up

Happy February! According to the groundhog (and today’s weather)... it looks like there is still lots of winter ahead!

Last week was another busy one despite only being a four day week!

We participated in a great bus safety presentation! The kids loved it. It even inspired many of them to draw and write about it in their journals!

We are starting to work lots with numbers higher than ten. Practicing to count from 1-20 daily, matching sets of counters to the numeral and number bingo are all great activities to do at home too!

SK kids are going to start an at home reading program this week. A reading folder will come home this week with an overview and recording sheet.

A reminder that I post pictures regularly on twitter. It’s a great way to talk with your child about what they did at school that day.
