Weekday Round-Up

We had a wonderful week full of fun and excitement!

The week kicked off with SK graduation! I can’t believe these kiddos are all ready to spread their wings and fly off to Grade One!

Tuesday was Bubble and Chalk Day. We were very busy outdoors exploring with these sensory materials.

Wednesday was school Play Day. The grade eight students did a wonderful job leading us in fun filled games and activities!

Thursday was Crazy Hair Day! I loved all the crazy hairdos! We read Crazy Hair stories, some of us made Crazy Hair crafts too. We explored instruments on Thursday as well and made our own band with Ms. Flor’s class! We had a blast!

Friday was Teddy Bear Picnic Day. We spent the morning doing circle songs and movement songs that were bear themed. We had a RAD assembly and it was Jump Rope For Heart. All snacks and lunches were spent picnicking in the classroom with our stuffies!

Tomorrow is costume day. Kiddies are invited to come dressed up however they please!

Weekday Round-Up

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads! I hope you enjoyed your gift! We had lots of fun making it. It also made for a great lesson in following a recipe and capacity!

Last week we participated in an Earth Ranger presentation on Monday. We learned about how we can save and protect Canadian wildlife!

Wednesday was our Springridge field trip! Hopefully you had a chance to check out the pictures posted on Homeroom.

The rest of the week was spent doing journal writing, outdoor play and math games! We created self portraits for the end of the Year and SK kids created a graduation craft.

This sweet little guy turned six this week too!

Tomorrow is SK graduation. We look forward to celebrating in the gym!

Also - a note went home about various theme days for the last two weeks! Tuesday is bubble and chalk day!

Parent Partners

Hello FDK Parents,

On June 15th, Parent Partners is hosting a Staff Appreciation catered lunch as a sign of our thanks for the amazing staff we have at St Matthew.

In order to pull this off, we need help in 3 ways - cash donations (online cashless system), nut free dessert donations, and (here’s where you come in) volunteers to help relieve the lunch and lunch recess duty staff.

If you are able to contribute in any way, please contact Lisa Milroy LisaMilroy@live.comor 289-795-7700.

Thank you!

Weekday Round-Up

I hope everyone had a great PA day on Friday!

Last week our math focus was symmetry. Something is symmetrical when it is the same on both sides. We explored with a tool called a mira. The kids loved it... they said it was like magic!

We also learned a fun and easy to replicate at home game called “how many am I hiding.” I put out ten gems. I then hide some of them under my hand. The kiddies look at how many are left and problem

solve how man I am hiding. They then say how they know.

We have learned he story of Noah’s Ark. we have an ark and characters in the class. The kiddies have enjoyed acting out the story through play!

Thank you Ms. Hinton for drawing us this picture!

This week We participated in a science and technology workshop called Venture. It was put on by McMaster university. We learned about centre of gravity. The boys and girls created a robot named Rosie. Their task was to use the idea of centre of gravity to find ways in which to balance her. Lots of persistence and problem solving was demonstrated throughout his workshop!

We reviewed the diagraphs sh and ch and lots of journal writing too!

Thursday was freezie day. It was a hot day so this cool treat was much appreciated!

This week for PAT we will focus on the th sound. This will be our last PAT of the year!
