With Fall in the air the kiddies continue to show an interest in learning about leaves, pinecones, acorns, apples and especially pumpkins! This week we read a variety of fiction and non fiction pumpkin and pumpkin themed books.
On Friday a few moms came in and helped us open up a few pumpkins and scoop out the seeds. While many thought the feeling was yucky, a handful of kiddies really enjoyed scooping and playing with the pumpkin goo and seeds! I have them all in the oven right now drying out so that we can use them for math activities next week!
This past week was also our first week for PAT (phonenemic awareness time). We did many letter S activities from making letter S bracelets to Interactive Smartboard lessons. We will continue to review this letter at school. I encourage families to review the letter and sound at home too.
This week our letter is : A
Please bring in items that start with A for your sharing day!
We continue to engage in a variety of math activities. Lots of number recognition and counting activities take place throughout the day.
In addition, I introduced the boys and girls to a math tool called a ten frame.
This week the kiddies took interest in creating using recyclable items. Carbboard boxes have been used to create animals, cameras, computers and people! They are loving the open ended creative opportunities at the "creation station."
Please feel free to send in your recyclable items for us to reuse in the classroom!
Our faith focus this week was on our prayer rocks. This precious activity is meant to help kiddies remember to pray and talk to God at home.
So many friends were so excited to tell me that they used their prayer rock at home! ❤️
Next week will be an exciting one! With Halloween around the corner we will partake in a number of different Halloween themed centres! I can't wait!
