We are always amazed with how much our friends accomplish in just one week!
This week we started our PAT (Phonemic Awareness Time). The kiddies loved sharing their items with the class. We have posted a copy of the PAT schedule below in case anyone needs it.
We did tons of letter S activities. Most of these activities were hands on: building the letter with loose parts, singing songs with the S sound, creating spooky S creatures (spiders, snakes, skeletons and scarecrows), tracing it in sand and building it with playdough. The same sort of activities were done with the sight word of the week: see.
Some other words added to our word wall that can be practiced at home too are : she and so.
This week the PAT letter and sound is Aa.
The sight word focus will be “and.”
We have started exploring 2D shapes. We are working on naming shapes and identifying the number of sides. Identifying these shapes in your environment is always fun. Go on a shape hunt in the house and see what sort of shapes you spy!
We continue to have so much fun with numbers too! We can’t stress the importance of counting at home daily enough! Even small activities like counting the stairs as you climb up them is perfect!
We also put out some new materials to support problem solving, group work and communication. These activities support STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) learning and are always a hit with our friends!
We are looking forward to an awesome week ahead! Lots of Halloween themed activities are planned!
